Consumers co-create a comic for Jeep

Jeep has launched a new mini site called Patriot Adventure, which encourages players to navigate their way through the film “The Way Beyond Trail”. Decisions made during the adventure determine the story. The site is reasonably well crafted to capitalise on the social networking factor with lots of opportunities to invite your friends to help you.

Jeep are also running a write your own Marvel comic participation campaign that will allow readers to help write a 28 page comic.

Perspective: It’s great to see companies embracing consumer generated media, and I think both campaigns relate well to the “adventure” essence of the Jeep brand.

Get Twittered

I have been reading a lot recently about a new tool, called Twitter. What is it?

Well it’s kind of a summary blog, a statement of what someone is up to. Think of the tags you often have on your MSN, Skype or Yahoo IM and you get the picture. In this case it’s designed to run on your blog, phone, or IM (only available with Jabber, Gtalk, AOL at time of writing).

You can see the Twitter box on the right of this blog. I shall try to keep it updated . but you can follow the conversation of Twitter here.

Let me know what you think?

Knock Knock Google

This is a story which reminds me a little of One Red Paper Clip, which i covered last year.

Aaron Stanton had an idea, and he figured he would pitch the idea to Google. However, his attempts to contact Google via using their web’s contact us, email and phone didn’t work. So Aaron booked a plane ticket and flew to Google. His plan was simple, sit outside Google for several days, until someone at Google would agree to meet him, using this website to write a journal of his adventure.

He reportedly got the meeting, and you can check out Cangooglehearme.com for details.

Perspective: Marketing yourself is not unlike marketing a product .. you need to stand out. I heard a similar story of a person wanting to get a job, and he sat in the lobby handing out business cards to everyone entering the building. The cards said something like “My name is Fred, and i want to work for company x.” He finally got an interview and ended up working for company x. The moral of the story is in a world of clutter . you need to stand out, or as Seth Godin calls it .. to be a purple cow.
