Creative Origami

I’ve always loved stories that are built from clay models &  lego bricks, because as well as watching the story unfold, a part of me is fascinated with the artistic patience required to produce them.

Working for ASICS, agency Nordpol+ Hamburg commissioned Sipho Mabona who has created this gem of a story with Origami which is not only entertaining, but is so on brand for ASICS.

Ikea’s clever Facebook campaign

Sweden is known for it’s innovation which not only expresses itself in design, but also in creative campaigns.

Agency Forsman and Bodenfors decided to use one of Facebook’s built in features of “Tagging” to get the word out about Ikea’s Malmo store opening.  First, they created a Facebook profile for the store manager, Gordon Gustavsson. Then, over the next two weeks, uploaded images from of IKEA showrooms to his Facebook photo album.

To generate interest, they provided the incentive that the first person to tag their name to a product in the pictures, won that product !

As people tagged themselves to the pictures, their friends were made aware of the free offering via their facebook news feeds and hence interest in tagging themselves to a new bed, rug or vase spread quickly.

CrunchPad – tablet pc

Looking like a big brother to the iPhone, the CrunchPad tablet PC  from Techcrunch is likely to shake up the tablet computing market.

Crunchpad

Crunchpad

At 18 mm thick, the tablet only works when connected to the internet.  The device takes advantage of clever touch protocols that make for efficient and pleasant consuming of content.  Rumoured to be priced at around US$300, the device could become a widely adopted method for reading online content.

As well as possibly becoming the classroom read / write pad, I can also envisage this device being the new way to browse online content while curled up in front of the fire place, as well as a kitchen helper displaying interactive recipe content.

Apple too are in the process of reinventing a tablet device, but it is likely to be released at a significant cost premium to the CrunchPad.  See coverage from Wired here.

Below is a video that shows the CrunchPad in action.

Sleeveface

Sleeveface is defined as "one or more persons obscuring or augmenting any part of their body or bodies with record sleeve(s) causing an illusion"

This unique art-form has inspired over 1400 Flickr photos, a series of Youtube videos, and even a Facebook group with over 10,000 members.

This is a great example of a self powered community linked by the single common objective of creating art from record sleeves.
